about me
My name is Simon Kågedal and I'm from Sweden.
I'm fascinated by Wiki and run my own MoinMoin Wiki at: http://helgo.net/fika/
I have run Debian GNU/Linux for many years. Currently I have a stoneage computer, so it's no fun because I can't try the new stuff, but in a few weeks I'll get a sweet new box! Mmmmm!
Have fun everyone!

Hello Simon, it seems you are the first non-German here at LinuxWiki, so Welcome! LinuxWiki is going to get a multi-language extension soon, you surely can help testing then ;) -- RonnyBuchmann 2002-12-01 23:10:45
Thanks! Ich spreche nur ein bisschen Deutsch. Looking forward to the multi-language extension! --SimonKågedal
For more information have a look at MultiLang (perhaps your "bischen Deutsch" will help you understanding this page!) -- JanRoehrich 2002-12-03 14:14:07
Simon,
could you check with the other swedish linux people how much interest there is in a native swedish LinuxWiki? If you visit http://de.linuxwiki.org you can get a pre-alpha preview of an international version currently supporting english, german and french.
If there is enough interest (concretely: if you could initially find about 5 people wanting to work on it, putting content into it, maybe translating some stuff, etc.), I think we could do it.
Maybe this would help make Linux and the Linux community more sucessful in sweden. You told me that you only know of 2 Linux User Groups in your country - is it maybe because Linux people are just too much scattered over the whole country, so that it is too difficult too personally meet? In that case, maybe sv.linuxwiki.org could be the solution to work together no matter what distance or time...

Hi Thomas!
I think you should maybe talk to the people at http://susning.nu, the largest Wiki in Sweden. There is lots of Linux folks there. I think there is quite a Linux movement in Sweden, http://susning.nu/Linux tells that there apparently is some kind of Swedish Linux Organisation. 427 members... not that big I guess.
I have no connections with LUGs or interest groups on the web, but if you would like to I could of course fire away some mails? There seems to be lots of people translating programs and documentation into Swedish. I think also a large part of Swedish Linux users don't really care about translation or special Swedish sites since English skills are pretty high, due to large amounts of undubbed American TV shows.
Personally I have no time to invest in the project, but I'll mail some people. --SimonKågedal
I might be able to give away some time. Who is responsible for the project? Is it you Thomas? I live in Sweden at the time and have few free hours every week and since this seams to be quite interesting project I would consider joining it. I would like to know what is to be done little bit more concrete. -- Zoran Pucar
Welcome! Being one of the founders, I am trying to coordinate that project. But well, a wiki is driven by all wikizens and many people are involved meanwhile and doing great things...
First, you could do a WikiHomepage (english or german) here and become familiar with this type of Wiki. Try if the wiki is ok for swedish speakers without knowledge of english (concerning system texts, help pages - no other swedish contents yet).
Try to collect people. I think we need about 5 people to start with.

Simon and Zoran: I looked at the MoinMaster wiki and the swedish translation of the help pages there seems to be lacking some pages (see: SwedishTranslation and FrontPage). Is there somewhere else more that has to be copied to the MoinMaster wiki? -- ThomasWaldmann 2002-12-08 15:14:30
I have now mailed some people, and Lars Aronsson from susning.nu forwarded to further people who might be interested. --SimonKågedal
Thanks. -- ThomasWaldmann 2002-12-08 13:57:26
